But can normal people get verified on Twitter? While people can send a verification request on Twitter, it is not possible for just anyone who wants their account verified to get it verified. Your request needs to approve before you get the blue tick on your Twitter account.
Steps to apply for Twitter Verification

2) Click on Settings and Support
3) Select Settings and Privacy
4) Click on your account
5) On Account Information, type your password. You will find Request Verification under the Verified option. Proceed to request.
If you have requested verification before the 9th of November, your account might be verified soon.
Who can apply for Twitter verification?
You can apply for Twitter verification if you or your organization fall under certain categories of work or identity. These categories are:
- News organizations, individuals in news, and journalists
- Government
- Entertainment
- Sports & Gaming
- Activists & Organizers
- Content creators and Influential individuals
Who will be ineligible for a verified account on Twitter?
You can still be ineligible for the blue tick even if you are notable, authentic, and active if you have certain other things going on in your account.
Twitter has a strict policy against verifying parody accounts, unofficial fan accounts, and commentary accounts. Moreover, if you have an account for a pet or a fictional character, it must be affiliated with a company, brand, or organization that has been verified, or that has a verified entertainment production.
If you violate any policies on Twitter, you will be deemed against the Platform manipulation and spam policy of Twitter. Besides this, hateful acts, cybercrime, and religious intolerance are highly checked by Twitter. If you are engaged in any of the above acts, your account will be ineligible for verification.
Can the blue tick be removed from a verified Twitter account?
Yes, a verified account can go unverified under certain conditions. It is just as important to realize that you can be removed if you go against the terms and policies of Twitter.

Twitter will have all the verified profiles under three different colors. Elon Musk recently came out with this policy. The policy is quite impressive considering what it stands for.
Among the three different colors, a gold check is for companies, a grey check is for the government and a blue check is for individuals (celebrities and content creators). Musk has recently been the CEO of Twitter and his new policy is quite advanced and impressive when it comes to marking accounts.
At first, the plan was to give a grey check for fake accounts and other accounts that claimed to give out false information or had false identities to show. Musk not only found people creating fake accounts of many other celebrities and popular figures but also himself. Hence, it became necessary for the man to take an action.
However, plans were soon changed and fake accounts did not get any check marks.
Musk shared in his tweet on 25th November 2022, “Sorry for the delay, we’re tentatively launching Verified on Friday next week. Gold check for companies, grey check for government, blue for individuals (celebrity or not), and all verified accounts will be manually authenticated before the check activates. Painful, but necessary.”
While Twitter was set to charge $20 per month for Verification, the updated charge for verification is $8 as of the current time. Moreover, Musk has been doing his best to give secondary accounts verified checks as well.
Elon quotes, “All verified individual humans will have the same blue check, as the boundary of what constitutes “notable” is otherwise too subjective. Individuals can have a secondary tiny logo showing they belong to an org if verified as such by that org.”
How long does it take to get approval for verification on Twitter?
You will have to wait for a few days to weeks in order to get verified on Twitter. It is not possible for you to get verified as soon as you send the request.
